Amazon.com seems to do a scary good job with their targeted marketing. I got hit up today in my email, suggesting I might be interested in purchasing these tv shows on dvd:
Sorry for the crummy formatting. It was hard enough to fix some things about the cut and paste job from my email. But to continue…
These all seem to have really high customer ratings from amazon. I watched several of them when they were on, like Space: Above and Beyond, Earth 2, etc., and remember liking them. I’m a more critical viewer of science fiction today than I used to be. They were all sort of little shows, most of them only lasting a season and few working with huge budgets, although there are some good actors to be found in the mix. Anyone out there want to recommend one or more of these? Anyone watched any of them recently?
I watch dvds when I run on the treadmill in the winter and am always looking for good tv series. One episode is a 5 mile run, which is my standard run, and I can do two for a long run. Tell me which ones you like in the poll below. Also feel free to leave a comment if you think any of them suck (particularly in consistently bad use of science).
Thanks!

I liked Space: Above and Beyond when it was on TV, but when I watched it a couple of years ago, I decided I’d outgrown it. I have Earth 2, which I liked, but they let it die. It seems to hold up.
I also watched Earth Final Conflict, but I can’t remember how many seasons it took to get…weird. I seems to recall the last season being pretty bad.
Thanks for the input, Kathleen. I’ve worried that Space: Above and Beyond wasn’t going to hold up to my memories, also.
I’ve also realized that there are a bunch of these small sf series out there, and I probably ought to do a follow-up post.
Starhunter & Starhunter 2300 are 2 separate seasons of the same show. For some reason I could never figure they changed the name between seasons.
The adventures of space bounty hunters travelling around on a ship that makes the Millenium Falcon on her worst day look like the Enterprise-D in comparison. Not heavy on deep plot but lots of explosions & weapons fire. It’s no Space: Above & Beyond, but I liked it. (Would have liked it *more if Space hadn’t been running it at 2am…)
