I don’t link to post nothing more than links (and the occasional associated rant) every day, but some good stuff to share…
Nalo Hopkinson adapts a Wiscon speech of hers about why she writes science fiction. Interesting and compelling stuff about race, comic books, and more.
Video of astronomer Michelle Thaller answering the question “Why aren’t there any green stars.”
Some upbeat news about my buddy Jay Lake, who may not be in the cancer hole as deep as I feared. I love him and his writing, so check him out if you don’t know his work. He tells me he’s going to pitch a space opera based on some stuff he learned at Launch Pad last year, too.
Fantasy writer Guy Gavriel Kay about blogging and distance from readers, or lack thereof.
Harlan Ellison: Who is he and why should we care? Video clip of a rant with him there, too. Love him or hate him, our Harlan is always entertaining.
Atheists respond to LA Times Op-Ed about hating atheists…the first response is priceless.
Via Gizmodo, a totally awesome video of the Milky Way rising over Texas. Must see!

the video is awesome, but its really interesting how in these videos it really looks like the sky is a “sphere” around us. Showing this video to ancient people would make them be pretty convinced the universe is a sphere rotating around Earth…

Although you can notice what I assume are lens distortions, too…
