Launch Pad 2010 Attendees

May 1st, 2010

We’ve finally gotten the 2010 attendee list finalized.  I managed to squeeze the limited budget a little more again and have squeezed in an extra person or two, all of who I think are great writers and interesting people reaching broad audiences.  As usual there are some great and interesting writers I couldn’t fit in, which is always hard on me.  Anyway, again, the guest instructor is Kevin R. Grazier of JPL/Cassini fame, and science advisor for Battlestar Galactica, Fringe, etc., plus editor and professor on issues of science and science fiction.  I’m really happy to have him.  Here is the group in no particular order.

Walter Jon Williams

Kelly Barnhill

David J. Williams

Carrie Vaughn

Marjorie Liu

John Joseph Adams

Rachel Swirsky

Cecilia Tan

Sheree R. Thomas

Alice Henderson

Genevieve Valentine

Monte Cook

Ian Randal Strock

Bud Sparhawk

Nicholos Wethington

So that’s the bunch.  My current funding runs out this year, although I have a pending proposal for a few more years of funding I’m waiting to hear about, and expect to propose to another funding source if the pending proposal falls through.  Things have gone great every year so far, and the groups have been fantastic, and this coming summer seems likely to be great, if not better than ever.  It’s always been a lot of fun, and past attendees have shown  jumps in the astronomy in their work, and it has been really special in my life, and I hope it continues to be so.

Looks like a great group! I hope you get more funding, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Have fun.

They really are. We have analog writers, editors of several different types, D&D writers, science reporters, NYT bestsellers, multiple award winners, Buffy novelists, exciting up and comers…I think it’s going to be a lot of fun, as usual.
